WKy Vipers Victorious in All-Star Tournament

The West Ky Vipers, a 12u team comprised of players from the Union Co. Little League program, recently competed in the Lyon Co. All Star Tournament.

 
The Vipers defeated Christian County in their first pool play game by a score of 14-2. Jacob Tapp struck out all three batters he faced in the first inning and was credited with the win for the Vipers. Evan Seay pitched the second inning and Seth Cummings closed the game.

Offensively, the Vipers were lead by Rhett Cardwell going 2 for 2 and getting credit for 5 RBI’s. Trey Hutchison, Jacob Tapp, and Seth Cummings went 1 for 1. Bo Robison was 2 for 3 tying Cardwell with the most hits. Trey Hutchison and Zac Shoulders had triples in the game. Brennen Quertermous, Brennen McWorthy, Rhett Cardwell, and Seth Cummings had doubles for the Vipers. Evan Seay was credited for 2 RBI’s.

The Vipers defeated Crittenden County in their second pool play game by a score of 12-1. Jacob Tapp pitched all three innings of play allowing only two hits and no earned runs while striking out seven batters.

Offensively, the Vipers were lead by Jacob Tapp. Tapp hit a three run homerun in the second inning to give the Vipers a 4-1 lead. Brennen Quertermous and Brennen McWorthy had doubles against Crittenden. Evan Seay and Brennen McWorthy had 2 RBI’s in the game. B.J. Collinsworth singled in the third, earning an RBI and giving the Vipers a maximum eight run inning.

The Vipers defeated Lyon County in their first tournament game by a score of 10-1.

Brennen Quertermous pitched three innings without allowing a hit and striking out six batters. Rhett Cardwell closed out the game.

The Vipers were lead offensively by Jake Main going 2 for 2 and getting credit for 3 RBI’s. Brennen Quertermous had a double earning 3 RBI’s. Trey Hutchison went 2 for 3 for the game.

The Vipers defeated Crittenden County in the Championship game by a score of 7-6.

Zac Shoulders pitched the first three innings for the Vipers allowing one run. Jake Main pitched the next two innings and Brennen Quertermous closed the game out for the Vipers.

Crittenden took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but a solo homerun by Jake Main in the second inning tied the game. The Vipers scored two more in the fourth inning off of singles by Brennen Quertermous and Brennen McWorthy.  Crittenden gained the lead in the top of the fifth inning with some nice hitting and a couple of errors by the Vipers. Down 6-3 going in to the bottom of the fifth inning, the Vipers got going with one out when Bo Robison got a double. Trey Hutchison singled scoring Robison. After the next batter lined out, Main singled bringing Brennen Quertermous to the plate. Quertermous hit a three run homerun giving the Vipers the lead and the Championship.

Brennen McWorthy (.429 BA & .556 OBA & 5 RBI)
